Fenestration
Fenestration
Window and door technology (referred to in the industry as fenestration) has benefited greatly from advances in materials and engineering. In the last few decades, window and door manufacturers have introduced new energy efficient coatings, advanced the science of insulated glass, and even used laminated coatings to produce long-lasting impact resistant windows. Framing materials that once consisted mainly of wood and aluminum now include PVC, composite, and even high strength energy efficient thermally broken products.
Along with window and door technology, the materials we use to make walls and openings have also changed. These advanced materials require advanced installation techniques. If they fail, glass can “fog,” frames can crack, and flashing interfaces can leak. Our licensed engineers and consultants have decades of experience in the fenestration industry. We investigate fenestration to determine whether the appropriate code, installation guidance and manufacturing techniques were followed.
Our consultants stay abreast of recent advancements in fenestration to determine the cause of loss, provide understanding of damages and evaluate the overall condition of fenestration openings and the surrounding areas. The scope of damage can in turn be used to determine a measure of the loss.
